Mount Bachelor: Observatory in the Sky

Mount Bachelor, in central Oregon, is tall enough to pierce the upper troposphere. Scientists who use the roof and upper floor of this ski resort building as an "observatory in the sky" can collect samples of air that originates in Asia and travels over the Pacific to the West Coast.
