Researchers from Case Western Reserve School of Medicine recently found that non-coding genes contribute to the development and spreading of cancer, one of the first known examples of researchers doing so. Lead author of the study reporting this finding, Ahmad Khalil, Ph.D., has been awarded a five-year, $1.85 million grant from the NIH to build on the discovery, and pinpoint additional targets for cancer-fighting treatments.
