Enlarged Dendrites after Drug Reinstatement (IMAGE)
Caption
High-resolution confocal micrographs of the enlarged dendrites (green) in the D1-medium spiny neurons (D1-MSN) of an animal after drug reinstatement (RST). The red dots represent phospho focal adhesion kinase (p-FAK). MSN are neurons from the nucleus accumbens, a structure that has a significant role in the cognitive processing of motivation, aversion and reward and so has a significant role in addiction.
