A model of the CaMKII protein shows multiple domains that allow it to bind actin filaments in the dendrites of neurons into bundles, giving the dendrites their shape. Researchers at Rice University, the University of Houston and the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston believe the complex is key in the formation of long-term memory.
