Animation showing the "plaid stimuli" used for research on perceiving motion. Sliman Bensmaia tracked the brain activity of subjects as they felt the diagonal pattern etched onto a metal plate. Similarly, Christopher Pack tracked the neural responses as subjects viewed a moving animation. In both cases, subjects processing the motion of the pattern the same way.
