The team conducted experiments in which a steel ball is bounced against (from the left) a Co25Ni25(HfTiZr)50 alloy plate, a plate of Cu50Zr45Al5, a NiAl alloy and commercial stainless steel. The Co25Ni25(HfTiZr)50 alloy plate was the most springy.
