While some patterns are regular and appear on both years, some anomalies are clear, for example, the drops in August 2011 (Hurricane Irene) and in October 2012 (Hurricane Sandy). In the maps below bottom, taxi pickups (blue) and drop-offs (orange) are recorded for Manhattan on May 1st from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. Notice that from 8 to 10 a.m., there are virtually no trips along Sixth Avenue, indicating the traffic was blocked.
