The dual role of orexin neurons in nociceptive perception and analgesic regulation. Noxious stimuli such as pinching or high temperature increase orexin neuronal activity, while activation of orexin neurons induces analgesic effects. This integrative function of orexin neurons supports stress-induced analgesia.
