Caption
T?ranganui Knoll is an underwater mountain (seamount) off the coast of New Zealand that was the site of an International Ocean Discovery Program drilling expedition. The seamount will one day collide with the Hikurangi subduction zone, leading to conditions that both generate and dampen earthquakes.
