Tooth Enamel of Lepidosauria (IMAGE)
Caption
Microscopic images of the tooth enamel of lepidosauria, with a bearded dragon depicted as an example, reveal information about the creatures' dietary habits. The image on the left shows the teeth of a mussel- and snail-eater, a Nile monitor, with a rough enamel surface. On the right is the significantly less furrowed enamel surface of an omnivore, a golden tegu.
