How Charged Gold Nanoparticles Unravel DNA

Positively-charged ligands on the nanoparticles attach to the DNA, but the hydrophobic ligands of the nanoparticles became tangled with each other. As this tangling pulled the nanoparticles into clusters, the nanoparticles pulled the DNA apart.
