To investigate causes of childhood community-acquired pneumonia -- the leading cause of hospitalizations in US children -- University of Utah Health Sciences collaborated with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on the largest study of its kind, the Etiology of Pneumonia in the Community. The results, which document over a dozen causative pathogens, were published in The New England Journal of Medicine.
