A Japanese farmer working in the field of Northern Japan. The country has long been working on crop breeding including rice for many years. Rice is originally grown in tropics. However, plant breeding techniques enabled rice to grown in colder climate. The plant breeding in early times relied on farmers' intuition, but today, three breeding technologies shown below are used.
