Visualizing Whistlers

Chirping of the plasma whistler-mode waves are visualized with the help of wave intensity plotted over time (horizontal axis). The high-intensity signals (red streaks) occur at increasing frequency (vertical axis) as time progresses in observations from both the LAPD experiment and the THEMIS satellite cluster that orbits the Earth.
