Polaris Project Partners (IMAGE) Woodwell Climate Research Center Caption The Polaris Project can be thought of as a sphere that has a summer undergraduate field course/undergraduate research experience in Siberia at its core, surrounded by and interacting with faculty, students, and arctic/climate change courses at several colleges and universities in the US and Russia, which in turn are surrounded by several coordinating institutions. The initiation of the Polaris Project during the International Polar Year capitalizes on the tremendous excitement generated by IPY, and will create a legacy by preparing the next generation of polar scientists. Support for Russian student and faculty participation is made possible by a $30,000 matching grant from the Woods Hole Research Center.
