Finnish wolves have taken over the habitat vacated when Norwegian-Swedish wolves were extirpated.

The Norwegian-Swedish wolf is probably gone forever. Today's population is descended from Finnish wolves that migrated to the border between the two countries after the original population was exterminated about 50 years ago.
