Zeolites have been widely utilized in petrochemical industry due to its well-defined channels and suitable acidity during the past decades. Here, distributions of Brønsted acid sites on different T sites in FER-type zeolite were investigated using Rietveld refinements. Refinement results revealed that Al atoms in FER-type zeolite are constrained at T1 and/or T3 sites regardless of the types of structure-directing agents and synthetic medium utilized, which are further confirmed by theoretical calculations.
