Ocean Sulfur Compounds Regulate Sunny-Cloudy Cycle (IMAGE)
Caption
As it penetrates surface seawater, solar radiation fuels marine life and drives the production of climate active trace gases, such as dimethylsulfide, an important cloud precursor over the remote oceans. This image relates to article that appeared in the 26 January 2007 issue of the journal Science, published by AAAS. The study, by Dr. S.M. Vallina and colleagues of Institut de Ciències del Mar (CSIC) in Catalonia, Spain, was titled “Strong Relationship Between DMS and the Solar Radiation Dose over the Global Surface Ocean.”
