Chimps exiting a play interaction (VIDEO) Cell Press This video is under embargo. Please login to access this video. Caption This video shows two chimps exiting a play activity. Kume (male) is engaging in chase play with Colebe (male) in the main phase. Colebe, the phase initiator, then stops to run and play chase and turns around, upon which the exit phase starts. The two mutually gaze at each other, Colebe attempts to reinstate the play interaction, but Kume pushes (Gesture) his head, upon which Colebe grabs (Gesture) the hand by which Kume is holding onto Colebe’s head. Kume then drops his hand, the two hold hands for a moment while gazing at each other again, they then perform a head on head (gesture) while facing each other. Colebe then sits down, Kume walks away, Colebe gazes one more time at Kume walking away, and the exit phase stops. No further interaction follows.
