Forensic anthropology researchers at North Carolina State University have developed a technique that can provide an approximate age for juveniles and young people based on an X-ray of the frontal sinus region of the skull. In this image, the skull on the left shows Stage 1 of frontal sinus development (circled in blue). The central skull shows Stage 2. Stage 3 is on the right.
