Laser Dartmouth (VIDEO)
Caption
A laser pointer turns "on" and "off" molecular switches. While spelling "Dartmouth" in a toluene solution using only light might be a neat trick, the microscopic switches can be used for serious work as well. In the future, light-activated switches like these might be used to develop highly-targeted drug therapies and high-density storage systems with the volume of a speck of dust.
