Mutant megakaryocytes, bone marrow cells that produce platelets, stained for SRC-419 show an abundance of rosette-like structures called podosomes. This material relates to a paper that appeared in the March 2, 2016, issue of Science Translational Medicine, published by AAAS. The paper, by E. Turro at University of Cambridge in Cambridge, UK, and colleagues was titled, 'A dominant gain-of-function mutation in universal tyrosine kinase SRC causes thrombocytopenia, myelofibrosis, bleeding, and bone pathologies.'
