During a 14-year study by the Wildlife Conservation Society, conservationists found that fishing closures in a Glover’s Reef atoll resulted in an increase in predatory fish such as barracudas (pictured here) and groupers, but not the herbivorous fish (parrotfish and surgeonfish) that eat the kind of algae that smothers reefs.
