The intensity of droughts across the Mekong and Chao Phraya basins is measured with the Streamflow Drought Index, or SDI (negative values correspond to dry conditions). The impact of hydro-climatic variability on the power system is quantified with the following variables: annual anomalies of available hydropower (in GWh) and derated capacity of freshwater-dependant thermoelectric plants (in MW).
