This is a collage of Vesta in comparison with other asteroids visited to date for which good images exist. This south polar view of Vesta shows the south pole mountain and the Rheasilvia impact basin surrounding this central peak. This image relates to a paper that appeared in the May 11, 2012, issue of Science, published by AAAS. The paper, by C.T. Russell at University of California, Los Angeles in Los Angeles, CA, and colleagues was titled, " Dawn at Vesta: Testing the Protoplanetary Paradigm."
