3-Dimensional Map of Neuron-Like Electronics in Brain Tissue (VIDEO)

For the first time, Yang and colleagues show a 3D rendering of their implanted probes (red) integrating seamlessly with surrounding neurons (green). Given the neuron-like features of the probe, they were able to use 3D mapping of the entire tissue/probe volume to see how neurons and other endogenous cells interact with the devices. Other implants are too thick for light to pass through, preventing 3D imaging of the entire interface.
