Perezia pungens, which is found from Colombia to Southern Cone, is in the family Asteraceae, the second most diverse family in the Americas. This material relates to a paper that appeared in the 22 Dec. 2017, issue of Science, published by AAAS. The paper, by C. Ulloa Ulloa at Missouri Botanical Garden in St. Louis, Mo., and colleagues was titled, "An integrated assessment of the vascular plant species of the Americas."
