On Oct. 19 at 12:29 a.m. EDT, the AIRS instrument aboard NASA's Aqua satellite saw Champi's cloud top temperatures exceeded -63F/-53C (purple) which indicates powerful storms with the heavy rainfall GPM saw three days before.
