The colored dots represent the location and strength of decline or increase of insect abundances for each of the 166 datasets we analyzed. This material relates to a paper that appeared in the 24 April issue of Science, published by AAAS. The paper, by R. van Klink at German Centre for Integrative Biodiversity Research (iDiv) Halle-Jena-Leipzig in Leipzig, Germany, and colleagues was titled, "Meta-analysis reveals declines in terrestrial but increases in freshwater insect abundances."
