This is the scanning transmission X-ray microscope at electron storage ring BESSY II, Berlin. This image relates to a paper that appeared in the Aug. 31, 2012, issue of Science, published by AAAS. The paper, by C. Pöhlker at Max Planck Institute for Chemistry in Mainz, Germany, and colleagues was titled, "Biogenic Potassium Salt Particles as Seeds for Secondary Organic Aerosol in the Amazon."
