On July 24 at 1:41 a.m. EDT (0541 UTC) the AIRS instrument aboard NASA's Aqua satellite captured this infrared image of Tropical Storm Sonca making landfall in Vietnam. The image showed an area of powerful storms with very cold cloud tops (purple) surrounding the center.
