This picture shows three bones (Vi33.16, Vi33.25, Vi33.26) from Vindija cave, Croatia. Most of the Neandertal genome sequence was retrieved from these bones. This image relates to an article that appeared in the May 7, 2010, issue of Science, published by AAAS. The study, by Dr. R.E. Green at the Max-Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology in Leipzig, Germany, and colleagues, is titled, "A Draft Sequence of the Neandertal Genome."
