Virus-Based Therapy Targets a Pediatric Eye Cancer (2 of 3)

First-in-human images of the eyes of two pediatric retinoblastoma patients who received the virus-based therapy. The virus replicated in tumor cells and caused no inflammation. This material relates to a paper that appeared in the Jan. 23, 2019, issue of Science Translational Medicine, published by AAAS. The paper, by G. Pascual-Pasto at Institut de Recerca Sant Joan de Deu in Barcelona, Spain; and colleagues was titled, " Therapeutic targeting of the RB1 pathway in retinoblastoma with the oncolytic adenovirus VCN-01."
