Prooxidants May Fix Metabolic Defect in Arthritis-Driving T Cells

Rheumatoid arthritis is a common autoimmune disease involving joint inflammation and damage. Researchers have uncovered a metabolic defect in T cells from rheumatoid arthritis patients, which may be corrected by replenishing T cells' reactive oxygen species supply. This material relates to a paper that appeared in March 23, 2016 issue of Science Translational Medicine, published by AAAS.
