This is what the less eroded cave systems look like near Malapa; narrow vertical shafts leading to sediment choked subterranean chambers. This image relates to an article that appeared in the April 9, 2010, issue of Science, published by AAAS. The study, by Dr. P.H.G.M. Dirks of University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa, was titled, "Geological Setting and Age of Australopithecus sediba from Southern Africa."
