White Matter Hyperintensities in Young Hockey Player's Brain (IMAGE)
Caption
Hudziak's research suggests that white matter hyperintensities, the number of which increase as a part of the normal aging process, occur in a higher volume among young athletes. Rendered in orange in this image, the hyperintensities appear to correlate with a decreased thickness in the outer layer of the brain.
