New Ultraviolet/X-ray Combo Improves Imaging Efficiency (1 of 7) (IMAGE)
Caption
UV lasers produce laser-like short pulses of X-rays of a large number of well-separated discrete frequencies. This material relates to a paper that appeared in the Dec. 4, 2015, issue of Science, published by AAAS. The paper, by D. Popmintchev at Joint Institute for Lab Astrophysics (JILA) in Boulder, CO, and colleagues was titled, 'Ultraviolet surprise: Efficient soft x-ray high-harmonic generation in multiply ionized plasmas.'
