Metal nanoparticle film-based room temperature Coulomb transistor (2 of 2) (IMAGE)
Caption
New transistor concept. Thin films made of metal nanoparticles (blue spheres) are electrically contacted by gold electrodes (source/drain). The current flowing through the films is adjustable by the voltage of a local electrode located below the film (local gate). This material relates to a paper that appeared in the July 14, 2017, issue of Science Advances, published by AAAS. The paper, by S. Willing at University of Hamburg in Hamburg, Germany, and colleagues was titled, 'Metal nanoparticle film-based room temperature Coulomb transistor.'
