A Pacific Northwest National Laboratory researcher works at the Automated Nucleic Acid Purification System, designed for the rapid recovery, concentration, and cleanup of nucleic acids from environmental samples. Applications of this technology will benefit national and homeland security by allowing harmful bacteria in clinical, agricultural, industrial, and environmental samples to be detected.
