Nerve Cells Deficient in STIM1 (STIM1-KO)

The scientists have found a deficiency in the protein STIM1 in brain tissue from patients with Alzheimer's disease. Its involvement in neurodegenerative processes has been verified thanks to the technique CRISPR/Cas9. Up to now, the effects of a deficiency in this protein critical to sporadic Alzheimer's were not known.
