Tunable Materials that Respond to a Magnetic Field (1 of 6) (IMAGE)
Caption
Tubular 3D printed structures allow for injection of field responsive fluid, creating a new class of materials called field responsive mechanical metamaterials. This material relates to a paper that appeared in the Dec. 7th, 2018, issue of Science Advances, published by AAAS. The paper, by J.A. Jackson at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in Livermore, Calif., and colleagues was titled, "Field responsive mechanical metamaterials."
