A drop of water boils on a hydrophilic solid above 100°C and levitates above 200°C (top pictures). A superhydrophobic material extends the levitation regime and prevents boiling. This material relates to a paper that appeared in the July 28th, 2019, issue of Science Advances, published by AAAS. The paper, by P. Bourrianne at Physique et Mécanique des Milieux Hétérogènes in Paris, France, and colleagues was titled, "The cold Leidenfrost regime."
