Trillemarka (IMAGE) Ecological Society of America Caption The purpose of boreal forest reserves like Trillemarka-Rollagsfjell Nature Reserve in Southern Norway is to preserve natural forests as ecosystems -- including the natural plant and animal life, and the natural processes that belong. Since 1300 there have been several hundred different forest fires in the nature reserve. It has been 200 years since the last, large forest fire in Trillemarka-Rollagsfjell Nature Reserve.
