Asexual Female Pea Aphid, Acyrthosiphon pisum (IMAGE)
Caption
This is an asexual female pea aphid, Acyrthosiphon pisum. When aphids reproduce asexually they are viviparous, giving birth to live young. The red eyes of embryos can be seen through the body wall of this adult female from the laboratory collection of Alex Wilson in the Department of Biology at the University of Miami.
