The Blue-crowned Motmot (Momotus momota) is an evolutionarily distinct bird that can be found in the rainforest and in diversified agricultural landscapes. This material relates to a paper that appeared in the Sept. 12 14, issue of Science, published by AAAS. The paper, by L.O. Frishkoff at Stanford University in Stanford, CA, and colleagues was titled, 'Neotropical agriculture reduces phylogenetic diversity and favors closely related birds.'
