Hand2 controls female fertility. In mice lacking Hand2 in the uterus, the embryos fail to implant because the cells in the uterine lining are non-functional. This image relates to an article that appeared in the Feb. 18, 2011, issue of Science, published by AAAS. The study, by Dr. Quanxi Li, at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in Urbana, Ill., and colleagues was titled, "The Antiproliferative Action of Progesterone in Uterine Epithelium Is Mediated by Hand2."
