Damage by blasts causes significant loss of rice harvest. This image relates to an article that appeared in the Aug. 21, 2009, issue of Science, published by AAAS. The study, by Dr. Shuichi Fukuoka of the National Institute of Agrobiological Sciences in Tsukuba, Japan, and colleagues, was titled, "Loss of Function of a Proline-Containing Protein Confers Durable Disease Resistance in Rice."
