Biofortified maize is helping combat the problem of vitamin A deficiency in Zambia where maize is a staple food for a majority. The ill effects of vitamin A deficiency can include stunted growth and blindness. Watch this video on how farmers in Zambia are adopting orange maize. HarvestPlus expects that at least 600,000 households will have adopted the crop by 2020.
