Zooarchaeological and archaeometric analyses by Arizona State University researchers on fossilized bones discovered in the Andedo drainage of the Dikika Research Project, Ethiopia, conclude that stone tools were used by human ancestors to make the mark in the lower center of the upper bone (femur) and the parallel marks on the lower (rib) bone.
