The Greater Mascarene flying fox (Pteropus niger), a threatened key pollinator and seed disperser on Mauritius, has been the target of two government endorsed culls. This material relates to a paper that appeared in the March 31, 2017 issue of Science, published by AAAS. The paper, by C.E. Vincenot at Kyoto University in Kyoto, Japan, and colleagues was titled, "Can we protect island flying foxes?"
